Database Management (DBMS) -II

This course module is offered for the 2nd  year ICT students  those who successfully completed the DBMS-I in the 1st year 2nd semester.

From the DBMS-I, the students  could understand the fundamentals of Databases, database design methodologies (ER diagrams and normalization theory),algebra and database query languages (SQL).   After completion of  DBMS-I students could develop  simple database applications and understand some tools to design ER diagram and the database.

In this course module students can understand Enhanced Entity Relationship (EER) model which is an enhancement of ER model. They will be able to understand Subclasses, Supercalasses, and inheritance in EER as well as  Specialization and generalization  and how these concepts use with the EER model.

Also the Transact-SQL and some advance topics such as stored procedures, different data storages, database connectivity methods with the programs, file organization with the indexes and query processing will be discuss with some practical sessions.

Finally, the students can understand how to physically design a database, transaction and concurrency control and crash recovery.

After successfully completion of this course module students can design database for any application.
